As a group we meet regularly to paint under the guidance of our mentor Barbara Jackson who encourages the development of each person’s individual style. Many of us first met at the sadly missed Hampstead Garden Suburb Institute on an Art Foundation course, the common factor being that we all studied painting with Barbara Jackson. After leaving the HGSI and going on to do other things, many of us wished to maintain our friendship by meeting up to paint together, which we have managed to do and while some have joined other groups and drifted away a core still remains.
Barbara has introduced new members to the group who have integrated into our fabric and ethos of individual expression through painting. We are supportive and encouraging of each others’ work, keeping all criticism constructive and non-confrontational. This is our first group exhibition together although many of us have exhibited work in the past both individually and in other collaborations and we are looking forward to showing our work at Burgh House which is a wonderful exhibition space.
