Master works by Jean Sibelius and his contemporaries from WW1 performed by Lisa Ueda, violin and Daniele Rinaldo, piano
Sunday 30 September, 3pm
To commemorate the end of WW1 the United Kingdom Sibelius Society offers a violin/piano recital of master works by Jean Sibelius and two great contemporaries, Claude Debussy and Ottorino Respighi.
Sibelius wrote one of the most popular of all violin concertos and also many wonderful works for violin and piano throughout his career. We celebrate this aspect of his music, to include the masterly Violin Sonatina (1915), alongside two major sonatas by his contemporaries; Debussy, whose centenary of his death falls this year and Respighi, whose Violin Sonata is among the best of his instrumental works. Both have been recorded by Jascha Heifetz!
The music in this concert was written during WW1 and shows the individual responses by these three composers performed by Lisa Ueda, violin and Daniele Rinaldo, piano.
