Sri Lanka, though small in size, offers an abundance of bird life. 466 species including vagrants and highly scarce migrants have been recorded over the years. Sri Lanka boasts a high endemism with 34 endemic species.
In his talk, Nirosh Perera speaks of his adventures to the hill country, the wet zones rainforests, and the dry zones of the north and south, to photograph Sri Lanka’s colourful birds. He will also showcase the fruits of his ‘passionate labour’ – the many photographs and the paintings!
Nirosh Perera - A wildlife enthusiast from an early age, Nirosh, has travelled all around Sri Lanka, seeking out the rarest and the most colourful birds, that such a tropical and diverse country has to offer. The inspiration? To capture that elusive moment! He has transformed some of these moments into art, using his preferred medium, pastels. Nirosh has exhibited his paintings in several locations in Sri Lanka, and has also contributed his photographs for field guides and talks. His intent is to help people understand the importance of biodiversity and wildlife conservation, through awareness.
