The Labour politician chats to Piers Plowright as the Lifelines series of talks continues. Mr Johnson, who has been Member of Parliament for Hull West and Hessle since 1997, has held a number of cabinet positions, including Home Secretary and Secretary of State for Health. The second volume of Johnson’s memoirs, Please, Mister Postman, was published in September 2014; the first, This Boy: A Memoir of a Childhood, won the prestigious Orwell Prize for political writing.
