TIM MOTZ - Piano

Tim toyed with the idea of becoming a pianist from an early age. He was a Répétiteur Scholarship at St Catherine’s College, Oxford (while studying German and Hebrew) before eventually studying postgraduate piano at the Royal College of Music under Niel Immelman, where achievements included a Director’s Prize in the the Jaques Samuel Pianos Competition. After deciding against professional music-making he became a Civil Servant - whatever a 'generalist' actually does - and now works at an environmental social enterprise. He has focussed increasingly on chamber music in recent years, and particularly enjoys violin/piano sonatas that are 'real' duos. Tim also works as a cantor for several Jewish communities around London.

TIM YAP - Violin

Tim (violin) has a real passion for chamber music and the intimacy of the inter-performer and performer-audience interactions, often found organising concerts across the capital. Originally trained at the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall schools, he is also currently concertmaster of the London City Orchestra and a member of the World Doctor’s Orchestra. Through these and other appointments during his medical training in Edinburgh, he has been fortunate enough to play in many of the principal concert halls around the world, as well as a variety of session work including live performances on BBC radio, the BBC proms and playing in the pit for numerous operas and musicals. When not involved with some sort of musical endeavour, Tim enjoys skiing and other outdoor pursuits. Currently, his daytime job is as an ophthalmic surgeon based at Imperial College Healthcare which leaves little time for daytime practice… but he is looking to improve his violin-work balance to expand his current musical horizons!
