Patients at the Rosslyn Lodge Auxiliary Military Hospital (1917)

This photograph comes from a photo album of the patients and staff of the temporary military hospital that opened in Hampstead during the First World War.

Rosslyn Lodge received mainly bedridden patients, but they were encouraged to spend time in the gardens. This photograph shows a group of patients playing croquet on crutches. A note identifies the men as: 'Hurst, Freestone, Cpt Richards, Cooke and Thacker'.
