Nurses and Cooks at the Rosslyn Lodge Military Auxiliary Hospital (c. 1916-19)

This photograph comes from a photo album of the patients and staff of the temporary military hospital that opened in Hampstead during the First World War.

By 1919, 43 trained nurses and four full-time and 30 part-time VADs (volunteer nurses) worked at Rosslyn Lodge. A note identifies the women as: 'Cooks Chapman, Tatham and Sterling, 2-M Stoney Smith, Nurses Griffin, George and Wimbush'.
