Hampstead's North End cottages depicted in this image are now gone. They were very quaint and inspired a few other paintings, photos and postcards. In this image we are presented with a very rural Hampstead, likely painted by Fred Cook sometime in the 1890s. Cook's bright colours give a vibrancy to the paintings and the cottages.
