Fenton House, situated on Hampstead Grove, was built in 1686 and used as a merchant's house. In 1936, Lady Katherine Binning bought the house and filled it with highly decorative porcelain, Georgian furniture and seventeenth-century needlework. In 1952, it was bequeathed to the National Trust. Fenton House boasts a large collection of porcelain, paintings and period furniture.
This photograph presents a woman playing the piano in one of the large rooms of Fenton House, presumably after it had been opened to the public.
